Excerpt of the Bodrum Bulletin Article:
Bitez Village
The village is a little bit further away from the beach than the church, but the enticement of a drink and pastry from the village bakery should be motivation enough to get you to follow the path to the end.
If you plan your walk to coincide with Market days, you can wander through the lower part of Bitez village and head to the weekly market area where they hold the farmers market each Thursday and the flea market on Sunday, (for a full listing of the markets on the Bodrum Peninsula, check out the Bodrum Bulletin’s Calendar).
We spent a couple of hours wandering around the flea market, and I was taken by surprise by how many items I coveted.
As well as clothes and household items, there are holiday essentials like fishing rods and English language paperbacks, and an eclectic assortment of trinkets you never knew you wanted!
So next time you’re in the neighbourhood, why not experience the multi-faceted charms of Bitez for yourself.
Take a break from the beach, and go in search of Bitez’s tranquil side – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
